Chinese electric vehicle giant BYD has just announced plans to kick off the deliveries of its new Yangwang U9 electric supercar in late August 2024, Car News China reported.

BYD’s Yangwang brand will start customer deliveries of the highly awaited U9 electric supercar by the end of the following month.
According to the order sequence, Yangwang will deploy the U9 units to its flagship stores across China in late August 2024.
Buyers can easily check the estimated arrival time of their ordered U9 electric supercar on the brand’s official app or WeChat mini program.
BYD promises to compensate order holders with 2,000 credit points per day from the original date should the U9 deliveries be late. They can use these points, equivalent to about 200 yuan, for car servicing.

Design
BYD’s Yangwang U9 is 4,966 mm long, 2,029 wide, and 1,295 tall. It has a 2,900 mm wheelbase and 2,475 kg curb weight.
This new electric supercar is standardly equipped with a carbon fiber roof and rear diffuser, offering a racing spoiler as an extra. As for the body paint options, it offers silver, purple, and red.
Inside, it has extensive carbon fiber trim and suede upholstery to deliver a luxurious yet sporty feel. Its cockpit features screens on both the driver and passenger sides, including a a vertical control screen, an instrument screen, and a passenger entertainment screen. It also has ambient lighting, a Dynaudio Platinum sound system, an intelligent Star River screen, and multifunctional sports seats.
Power and performance
The Yangwang U9 features BYD’s visionary e4 U-shaped motor system, ensuring superior precision and responsiveness. In addition, it also boasts the iSus-X suspension and stabilization system that can enable it to drive on three wheels, jump, and dance.
The four-motor configuration yields a maximum output of 1,306 Ps horsepower and a peak torque of 1680 Nm. It can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in just 2.36 seconds. It also delivers a top speed of 309.19 km/h.
It utilizes an 80 kWh battery, enabling a CLTC-rated driving range of 450 km between charges. It can also support dual fast charging tech: 30-80% SoC in just 10 minutes.
The cutting-edge Yangwang U9 costs a whopping 1.68 million yuan ($232,000). For this price, owners can benefit from a very enticing warranty deal for the electric supercar’s battery, electric motor, and electric control, with BYD upgrading it to cover the EV’s lifetime regardless of ownership transfer. In addition, customers who paid deposits by July 31, 2024, will get an extra PU paint protection film (Longfilm series) from BYD.
