BYD announced that it would reveal the Ocean series’ first B+ class hybrid sedan on April 18 to kick off its participation in the ten-day event of the 2023 Shanghai Auto Show.
The initial announcement did not disclose the model’s name. Finally, the automaker’s Weibo post on April 17 indicated that it would go by the name “Destroyer 07” (驱逐舰07 in Chinese).
Today, Destroyer 07 officially debuted at the auto show in China.
What is currently known about BYD Destroyer 07?
The new model is a mid-size plug-in hybrid sedan with two DM-I PHEV system powertrain options: 1.5 + electric motor and 1.5 turbo + two electric motors.
As for the range, it is reported to have a maximum NEDC range of 200 km, with 121 km being the minimum.
The new BYD Destroyer 07 is projected to cost between 199,800 yuan and 249,800 yuan (29,000 – 36,300 USD), per Car News China.
The report further indicated that the EV would have a DiSus-C intelligent damping body control system. It measures 4980mm long, 1890mm wide, and 1495mm tall with a 2900mm wheelbase.
Interestingly, the car’s front and rear lights appear similar to the BYD Seal, along with its other exterior designs. However, the Chinese publication suggests that Destroyer 07 is inspired by the BYD Han, saying it is a “sister model.”
BYD disclosed deliveries of 207,080 NEVs in March, up 97% year-on-year. It also indicated a month-on-month growth of 7% from February results of 193,655 units. Unfortunately, BYD has not yet announced its delivery schedule for Destroyer 07. Nonetheless, some predict it will start by the second half of 2023.
