Ampol will roll out its 150-kW fast electric vehicle chargers in Australia.
“AmpCharge”, a pilot program introduced by Australian Petroleum Company, Ampol, will unveil their 150kW fast-chargers for electric vehicles at its five key service stations. The operations will start in June this year.
The charging stations will be located at Ampol service stations in Carseldine in Queensland, Alexandria and Northmead in NSW, Altona North in Victoria and Belmont in West Australia. They aim to build more charging stations at 120 sites by October 2023.
It was reported that Ampol received $7.05 million from the federal government’s Future Fuels Strategy (FFS) on plans to expand the EV charging infrastructure in Australia.
Matt Halliday, Ampol Managing Director and CEO, said in a statement: “Today, as energy needs evolve, our vision is to become Australia’s leading distributor of energy, providing mobility solutions for any of the vehicles our customers drive, anywhere and anytime they need it,”
“As we begin to evolve our national network, consumers will see AmpCharge in Ampol service stations, depots and terminals right across the country. For the first time, we’ll also be entering homes, workplaces and shopping centres as we seek to deliver simple and efficient charging solutions at convenient locations to keep people moving.” DRIVE reported.
According to Ampol, they will only be using renewable energy or certified green energy resources. Each site can charge two cars at the same time.
