Aiways has announced that it would begin offering its new U6 Coupe SUV in a few European markets in December, with prices expected to start at about €39,000 (£34,000). According to InsideEVs, U6 deliveries will begin in the first half of 2023.

Chinese electric vehicle maker Aiways Automobiles Company Ltd. was founded in 2017. The line “Ai is on the way” is where the term Aiways comes from. According to its website, the brand is “committed to innovatively applying intelligent technology to various scenarios of people-vehicles-travel-life, providing thoughtful and personalized care, and creating a better travel life with users.”
After launching its U5 SUV in Europe, it is now set to introduce its second model, the U6 Coupe SUV.
U6 Coupe SUV Power and Performance
The new Aiways U6 has the same platform and wheelbase of 2,800 mm (110.2 inches) as the U5. However, the U6 is slightly broader and over 100 mm (4 inches) longer.
According to Auto Car, the U6 has sportier proportions and posture than the U5. It features a blunt front end, a big, angled tailgate, and a modest lip spoiler.
Notably, the VW ID. 5 and Aiways U6 claim to have a drag coefficient of 0.26Cd.
Furthermore, the 1790kg U6 is propelled by a 215bhp, 232lb-ft electric engine. It claims to power the vehicle from 0 to 62 mph in 6.9 seconds and up to a top speed of 100 mph.
It has an official range of 249 miles on the WLTP test cycle, with charging rates of 11 kW (AC) and 90 kW (DC). The direct current enables a 20% to 80% top-up of energy reserves in 35 minutes under ideal charging conditions. As for the battery, it has a 63-kWh battery pack, which uses CATL cells.
According to calculations made using the WLTP test procedures, it claims to use between 15.9 and 16.6 kWh/100 km (3.9 to 3.74 mi/kWh) electricity.
Inside the Aiways U6
The U6 boasts a dashboard with a distinctive design and what Aiways refers to as its AI cockpit. A tinier 8.2 inches instrument display and a larger 14.6 inches infotainment display are located in front of the driver. Remarkably, the Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are supported by the infotainment’s Android OS 9.0 operating system.
In a pod that juts out of the dashboard’s center, there is a multi-function steering wheel and a phone charging pad. Meanwhile, inside the front portion of the center console is a unique twist-grip gear selector that was designed as a nod to motorboat gear selectors.
As for the deliveries, we know the company will begin in the first six months of 2023. It is expected to cost about €39,000 and will be manufactured in the Shangrao factory alongside the U5.
