German legacy automaker Volkswagen released the first teaser for the upcoming ID. 2all electric SUV. VW Passenger Cars Design spokesperson Stepan Rehak shared the photo on social media platform X, indicating the imminent launch in 2026.
In hindsight, VW introduced the low-cost ID. 2all car concept concept last March as a successor to the Polo model. As per the press release earlier this year, the model is “as spacious as a Golf, as affordable as a Polo.” The ID. 2all concept features a design similar to iconic models like the Golf and the Beetle, but it has modern touches. Electrek reported that the German automaker hired ex-Bentley and Audi designer Andreas Mindt to supervise its design team.
Exterior design
As you can observe in the photo, the concept sports a sleek profile like the ID.2 all concept. It has a distinctive layout compared to the brand’s other ID electric SUV models. It features a light bar at the front, while its rear has a roof spoiler.
According to Motor Mouth, the ID.2all SUV maintains the unique body frame of the original model. However, it offers a “beefier” look due to its clumpier fenders and triple slats on the rearmost pillar.
Interior features
There is currently no information or photos available for the new ID. 2all electric SUV.
For reference, the ID. 2all concept unveiled last March offers a 12.9″ touchscreen with a new menu structure. It also has multifunction steering wheel. It also has a 10.9″ digital driver display.
According to CarExpert, VW promised to stop using glue and hard plastics in the interiors of its next-gen EVs. It is apparently part of its efforts to improve build quality and lessen its environmental footprint.
Technical details
The ID. 2all electric SUV concept is expected to offer two battery configurations, including 38 kWh and 58 kWh. The larger battery pack can reportedly support DC fast charging of up to 125kW.
Apart from the speculated battery specs, there is no more available information about the upcoming SUV’s technical specifications. We’d likely learn more about it ahead of the market launch.
The ID. 2all is among the ten new EVs Volkswagen plans to introduce by 2026. The new compact electric SUV will follow it in the same year, with an expected pricing of around $32K (€30,000).
Last month, the German automaker announced new job cuts to lower expenditures and even admitted that it is “no longer competitive.” That said, launching new affordable EV models can significantly aid Volkswagen’s sales and delivery. However, it remains unclear whether the e-SUV will hit the US market.
