The Chicago-based United Airlines has just announced that it invested $15 million in Eve Air Mobility and inked a conditional agreement to buy 200 electric air taxis with options for 200 more. However, it would only remain 200 units if Eve Air Mobility fails to produce 400 electric aircraft.
Eve Air Mobility, supported by Embraer, is expected to deliver the first batch of air taxis as soon as 2026. Notably, the startup electric aircraft manufacturer joined the stock market (the NYSE) in May of this year as reported by CleanTechnica.
It is also worth noting that aside from Eve Air Mobility, United Airlines also invested $10 million in Archer Aviation for 100 units of electric aircraft.
These most recent investments by United Airlines strongly indicate the airline’s conviction that many residents of large cities will spend $100 or more for a one-way trip in a four-seat, electric-powered air taxi.
