The energy department of Tesla definitely living in the shadows of its car business. When most humans think of “Tesla,” they think of electric vehicles, yet the firm has had a renewed attention on energy products recently through its Tesla Energy department.
Electrek noted that the last quarter performance of solar department of Tesla was best in four years . This has been achieved through an improved product offering.
Tesla explained in Tesla Energy-wide internal conference, that it enhanced its energy product offering by going from a combination of third-party equipment to Tesla equipment with its own software integration during the last two years.
Tesla’s senior manager of solar products engineering, Seth Winger stated during the conference that new and updated Tesla Energy products are coming in 2022:
The engineer stated that he can’t release data yet, though he commented:
“In 2022, we are heavily investing in Tesla products. I can’t say exactly what is coming we want to maintain confidentiality but across the board on PVs, on Solar Roof, on Powerwall look forward to greatly improved installation efficiency, aesthetic, and product performance.”
Winger also states that some people on the call know it already – and if they do, they should “keep it a secret” yet pilot programs are arriving soon.
Tesla is testing a new model of Solar Roof (v3.5) on the houses of the employees, yet Winger now makes it look like Tesla is working on a new and upgraded Powerwall and solar panels as well.
Tesla also announced during the conference that it is about to install a new “Intereactive layout experience” for consumers.
A manager at Tesla stated that consumers are going to be able to interact directly with the design and support Tesla with the project:
“Customers are going to be able to engage with zero-touch layouts. They are going to be able to see a max kW design in their Tesla account.”
They are going to be capable of telling Tesla things such as where to put its equipment for the project.
The firm is still working on the new interface, yet based on early trial, Tesla expects that the latest portal is going to lower post-permit remodel requests by 20%, utility declines by 30%, and “average handle time (chat)” by 10%.
