Tesla China’s domestic retail sales and export of electric vehicles rose dramatically in November to a total of 100,291 units, based on China Passenger Car Association (CPCA) ‘s data.
That is an enormous number for just a month record, setting a new monthly high and a 90% growth from the previous year, as per InsideEVs.
For reference, Tesla China sold 71,704 wholesales in October, including 54,504 units that were exported. This export volume set a new record by increasing 34.03% from 40,666 units the previous year. It also increased by 887.03% from 5,522 units in September. However, this record is again topped by its subsequent month, November.
YTD total wholesale shipments
Over 655,000 wholesale shipments have been processed year to date, representing an increase of 63% from last year.
Impressively, the yearly production rate of the Giga Shanghai would be 1.2 million units if Tesla can uphold building 100,000 units each month.
Sales in China
Tesla’s November local sales totaled 62,493 in China, demonstrating a YoY increase of 97%.
Since Tesla dedicates the first half of the quarter to processing export operations, Tesla MIC retail sales in China typically peak in the last month of the quarter. Apart from that, Tesla has also offered further incentives, price cuts, and the 11,088 CNY subsidy.
That said, it is not surprising that the American automaker has sold more than 397,000 MIC electric vehicles in China this year to date, representing a YoY growth of 59%
Export
CPCA data revealed 37,798 Tesla MIC car exports in November, establishing another high for the automaker with a 79% YoY increase. Furthermore, it reported that more than 257,000 Tesla MIC vehicles have been exported this year to date (up 69% YoY).
Models
Tesla produces and sells two MIC models in China, including the Model 3 and Model Y, in different versions.
The Tesla Model 3’s wholesale sales (including exports and retail sales in China) were 31,193. To break the total down, the Model 3 had 10,069 local sales and 21,000 exports.
On the other hand, The Tesla Model 3’s wholesale sales totaled 69,098 units. It had surpassed 52,000 local sales and 17,000 exports.
Having stated all that, there is a high chance that Tesla will break yet another record in December before the year ends. However, it would be hard to predict how the leading American automaker would fare in the world’s largest auto market next year.
