Tesla has recently released a new software update (2022.40.1) that optimizes charging efficiency for faster charging times and lower energy costs, among other features.
Not a Tesla App uploaded the release notes for the 2022.40.1 software update. It indicates that the main focus of the update is improved charging efficiency.
Tesla wrote in the release notes:
“During DC fast charging, the thermal system controls have been optimized for each charging station’s power capability, improving both charging and on-route battery preconditioning efficiency. This results in fast charge time and reduced energy costs.”
2022.40.1 software update improvements
Supercharging efficiency
InsideEVs reported that Tesla has effectively controlled heat by modifying its vehicles’ software settings instead of rebuilding hardware components. It will enable the electric vehicle to charge more efficiently and rapidly while saving money.
Furthermore, charging at a non-Tesla DC fast charger has also been made faster thanks to Tesla’s thermal control adjustments. It is aimed to adjust the power output of each DC fast charging station.
Radio station logos
Tesla indicates that radio station logos will now be featured in its built-in Media Player. It can aid people who struggle with using the touchscreen while driving and make it easier to find their preferred stations.
Tesla boasts that “The Media Player now displays radio station logos for improved discoverability when searching for favorite stations.”
Drive door unlock mode
Tesla has also included a new Drive Door Unlock Mode in the 2022.40.1 update. Once this feature is enabled, you can unlock all doors and access the trunk by pressing and holding the lock button on the driver’s side door.
Tesla instructs, “When Driver Door Unlock Mode is enabled, long pressing the interior driver door switch will unlock all doors and the trunk. To access Driver Door Unlock Mode, tap Controls > Lock > Driver Door Unlock Mode.”
Sentry mode and dog mode
Tesla has also enhanced its Sentry Mode and Dog Mode. This update will enable you to use both functionalities simultaneously to keep your pet cozy and safe while still keeping an eye on your vehicle.
In retrospect, Dog Mode and Sentry Mode could not be activated simultaneously before the update. Now, alarm sounds would automatically be disabled once you activated both functionalities. However, you will still be notified if there is a possible hazard. At the same time, the Sentry Mode function will still record video footage.
Tesla wrote in the release notes:
“Your vehicle and pets can be kept safe by activating Dog Mode and Sentry Mode at the same time. Sentry Mode alarms are silenced if Dog Mode and Sentry Mode are both enabled. Mobile app notifications will still be sent and video footage will still be saved.”
You may be eager to try out these new features, but remember that it took a long time for Tesla to distribute the most recent software updates to all of the vehicles in its global fleet.
