Green tech advocate Tesla proudly announced the launch of its Powerwall home energy storage systems in two new foreign markets, Portugal and, most recently, Taiwan.
These expansion efforts align with Chief Executive Elon Musk’s goal of advancing its energy storage unit to match the growth of its automotive business.
Tesla Powerwall continues to expand
Tesla Energy’s official X account announced the immediate availability of the Powerwall in Taiwan yesterday, December 13. The X post indicated a link leading to the Taiwanese website for Tesla Powerwall.
As you can see, the page only displays the Powerwall 2 without the Powerwall Plus or the upcoming Powerwall 3.
Before Taiwan, Tesla Energy launched the Powerwall in Portugal on November 16. It also included only the Powerwall 2.
What’s special about Tesla’s Powerwall?
Tesla Powerwall provides home energy storage for households with solar power systems. It enables homeowners to tap into the stored solar energy for various applications such as electric vehicle charging or backup power in case of emergencies.
It also allows them to return extra energy to the electrical grid, specifically during peak demand.

Impressively, Tesla Energy already crossed the 1 GWh installation threshold in its European Powerwall fleet just last month. This capacity is apparently sufficient to supply power to 41,000 households for 12 hours on average. It still has more growth prospects, especially considering the imminent wider deployment of the new Powerwall 3. As per the US website, the Power 3 will launch in 2024.
Tesla strives to defend its dominant position as a leading company in green energy solutions. With the Powerwall’s continued expansions, homeowners across the world get a chance to adopt renewable energy.
