Leaked photos of the HW4 hardware
Prominent Tesla hacker Green (@greentheonly) accessed the automaker’s new self-driving hardware and posted the relevant images on Twitter.
Green claims that the HW4 is equipped with the Model X, further stating that Tesla is now developing the electric SUV with the updated hardware.
“Looks like Tesla started to build cars with it but does not deliver them yet, I imagine the plan is to announce on March 1st that all cars off the line are already having it.”

Well, his claims are likely possible, given its reputation for leaking Tesla’s planned hardware and software updates ahead of official announcements. His recent post revealed interesting information about the company’s FSD hardware update, which could enhance the existing $15,000 FSD software option.
The leaked photos further revealed that the computer board is now fitted with 20 cores from just 12 in the previous version. Green also noted that Tesla has also added a built-in GPU to offer a thinner unit.
Green observed some redundancy and also noted a significant change regarding the cameras. He revealed that the new hardware is equipped with 12 camera inputs. In hindsight, the previous version HW3 only had inputs for eight exterior cameras and one interior camera.
This hardware update is indeed a piece of exciting news for Tesla owners and potential buyers. It is also expected to aid Tesla’s progress in autonomous driving technology.
Tesla may release further details about the HW4 update on the upcoming Investor Day on March 1.
