Tesla has begun shipping out its electric cars outfitted with Hardware 4 (HW4) computers, also called FSD2.
The delivery of the new electric vehicle to its owner was verified by the owner, who stated that the vehicle featured an upgraded system. In addition, it is common knowledge that specific fundamental components were not functioning at all.
Jason Clinton, a TeslaMotors subreddit member, is the vehicle’s proud owner in question.
The latest hardware iteration called Phoenix
He claims his brand new Model X Plaid was produced on February 25 and delivered over the past weekend. He posted a photo album on his website that features the vehicle.
During the delivery process, a Tesla technician clarified that the customer’s vehicle was outfitted with “TeslaAP4” and that the radar was set to “Phoenix.”
According to Techstory, there has been leaked about the company’s new computer, “Phoenix” is the name of the most recent iteration of hardware.
In addition, Service Advisors have confirmed that Tesla’s internal system identifies the customer’s Model X as having the most recent Hardware 4 computer. An inventory screen has shown that the Phoenix radar is present in the vehicle.
Tesla’s AP3
TeslaScope reports that earlier Model X iterations (equipped with Hardware 3) provided an API response value of “Tesla AP3.” The Twitter user affirms that the firmware version 2023.2.200 is also a crucial component of the new Hardware 4 system.
According to the latest Model X owner in his Reddit thread, “nothing works” at the moment, even the following features:
- Cruise control
- Autopilot
- Navigate on Autopilot
- parking sensors
- FSD Beta Visualization preview
- Rear backup camera
The driver’s side has a door vent window and a tail light leak. However, the post’s author claims that his car has been booked for repair at a Tesla service facility.
Like the previous model, Tesla’s new Hardware 4 computer is based on a Samsung Exynos architecture. However, it’s slightly stronger this time, with the CPU core count progressing from 12 to 20 per side. It has the highest frequency of 2.35 GHz and an idle speed of 1.37 GHz. the system also employs more cameras and a new “Phoenix” radar.
Tesla Model X and Model S to feature the FSD2
The Tesla Model X and Model S are supposedly the first models to be produced with the new computer. The Tesla Model Y and Model 3 are also preparing for the updated hardware.
Unfortunately, retrofitting the new system onto vehicles that already have the older Hardware 3 computer installed will be impossible. The unit itself has a different form factor. Some additional cameras and detectors need to be incorporated.
