Tesla Chief Executive Elon Musk has once again announced the imminent relaunch of the Autopark and Smart Summon to the company’s electric vehicle offerings.
Brief background
In hindsight, Tesla eliminated Autopark and Smart Summon from its current electric vehicle portfolio after ditching ultrasonic sensors integration about two years ago.
However, even when these features were available in Tesla EVs, their performance fell short of owners’ expectations. The features failed to meet CEO Musk’s claimed capabilities.
Since then, the Tesla boss has promised to relaunch the features to make EV ownership and driving more convenient.
CEO Musk also teased about last month that Tesla may rename the Autopark to “Banish” since the feature will enable the electric vehicle to autonomously find a parking spot once the owner exits.
Tesla to relaunch Autopark and Smart Summon soon, Musk says
It is interesting to note that Tesla CEO Elon Musk seems to persist in coining the “Actual Smart Summon” instead of “Smart Summon” as previously known.
According to the Tesla boss’ update on X today, the Actual Smart Summon and Banish” will be available again in Tesla cars soon.
It would be unsurprising if the feature would arrive as “ASS,” knowing CEO Musk’s love for humorous acronyms.
However, calling the feature “Actual” Smart Summon would appear to be Tesla’s admission that the prior version was not actually as smart as expected.
Taking the announcement with a grain of salt
This recent announcement stimulated a significant interest among Tesla owners and fans.
X user and Tesla owner James Locke @arctechinc responded to CEO Musk’s X post, asking, “How soon is soon?”
However, it must be noted that the latest hint is not the first time the Tesla boss has announced a timeframe for an “(actual smart) Summon.”
Almost a year ago, he teased that the “Actually Smart Summon” was launching in Tesla EVs in just “a month or two.”
All that said, it would be better for Tesla owners and interested buyers to take the Actually Smart Summon & Banish (autopark) launch announcement with a grain of salt.
