A mobile application will soon be produced by Chandigarh Renewable Energy and Science & Technology Promotion Society (CREST). According to Tribune India, this innovation is expected to offer real-time updates on charging station information, including a time slot, station type, load, location, and tariff.
For the sake of progressively phasing out automobiles that use conventional gasoline in UT, the administration has set a restriction on their registration. Additionally, it offers electric vehicle customers incentives.
After two years, UT will no longer accept registrations for two- and three-wheelers powered by fossil fuels. For consumers to get all advantages offered by the policy, the society aims to create a single-window platform that is connected with all stakeholders.
Furthermore, all new buses will be purchased or replaced with electric vehicles solely as part of the UT’s measures to add EVs to its fleet. Meanwhile, the replacement of the government fleet and the MC fleet with EVs will also happen gradually.
In order to construct both private and public charging infrastructure in the city, the government will develop a supportive environment. Furthermore, some initiatives will be taken to promote the construction of charging points at homes and workplaces, as it is anticipated that most electric vehicle owners will utilize these locations for charging.
In accordance with the project plan, the administration will modify the construction bylaws to guarantee that all new homes and workplaces will be “EV ready” for at least 20% of the vehicle load.
By enabling features like power connection, standard EV supply equipment models, equipment installation costs, and empanelled vendors, CREST will create an IT-based platform.
Within the time frame specified, it is anticipated to offer a one-stop solution to make it easier to install charging infrastructure in houses, workplaces, and other locations for private or semi-private use.
Notably, all gas stations, both government and commercial ones operating in Chandigarh, must have charging infrastructure by the end of the next six months, per the regulation. The policy also states that owners will have to take the certain arrangements to construct the charging stations in the surrounding parking lot if there is insufficient space.
