Electric bicycles are becoming more popular among automakers. Porsche, for example, has recently acquired a large number of e-bike brands.
Rivian has also shown interest in the e-bike market, and the first Rivian-developed e-bike is currently in the works.
Understandably, Audi, Porsche’s sister company under the Volkswagen group, has joined the party, but this time with a famous Italian motorcycle manufacturer: Fantic.
We’ve all heard of Audi’s e-tron electric vehicle lineup. Similarly, the company capitalizes on its highly successful e-tron brand name to market its Audi Electric Mountain Bike electric bike.
The e-MTB lives up to its name, with the e-tron logo prominently on the battery.
Audi electric MTB
The Audi Electric Mountain Bike is opulent enough in terms of components to salivate bike enthusiasts.
It has Ohlins suspension hardware, including an RXF 38 M.2 suspension fork.
The rear shock on the bike is a hlins TTX 22M. Similarly, the bike has an SRAM GX groupset for accurate shifting and a lightweight drivetrain. Lastly, the bike is outfitted with Incas 2.0 hydraulic brakes that stand out due to their intricate machining.
The Electric Mountain Bike is constructed on a Fantic frameset that is part carbon and part aluminum. Although the exact specifications are unknown, the frame’s front triangle is likely to be made of aluminum, while the rear section is likely to be made of carbon fiber.
The frame has 170 millimeters of suspension travel, which, when combined with the 180 millimeters of travel provided by the hlins front fork, results in a long-travel enduro bike.
The wheel configuration is mullet, with a 29-inch front wheel and a 27.5-inch rear wheel. Last but not least, we arrive at the motor.
Equipped with Brose Drive S Mag e-bike system
A compact Brose Drive S Mag e-bike system powers the Audi Electric Mountain Bike. With 90 newton-meters of torque on tap, the engine is sufficient to make climbs a breeze, allowing you to enjoy the descents fully.
The motor is also linked to a Fantic 720-watt-hour battery pack.
Predictably, an e-bike of this caliber is quite expensive.
Bicycles with this level of componentry are known to fetch thousands of dollars. This posh yet capable trinket will set you back 8,900 Euros, or approximately $9,378.
