It looks like Ford did something special when it made the F-150 Lightning. Since its release, the fully-electric pickup truck has collected rave reviews from customers and professional reviewers alike, as per Teslarati.
At present, the Lightning received a notable award. It officially became MotorTrend‘s 2023 Truck of the Year.
As noted by the carmaker on Twitter, the Lightning’s win is another recognition for the F-150 series.
This is an important achievement, as the Ford model is the first e-truck to win by unanimous vote and only the second EV to get a unanimous win in MotorTrend‘s “Of The Year” competition history.
Vice president of Ford’s electric vehicle programs, Darren Palmer, shared his enthusiasm for Lightning’s new achievement, saying it’s excellent for the team that Lightning is the first e-truck to win by unanimous vote. The truck is full of firsts, and this one is really special to add to the model’s historic launch.
While the F-150 Lightning is still being ramped up, it is among the first to enter the growing fully-electric pickup truck segment. The Ford EV model was America’s best-selling electric truck last month, with sales totalling 2,062.
F-150 Lightning sales
Since its introduction, the F-150 Lightning has also sold 13,258 units. The success of the electric truck model has contributed to the company to become the second best-selling EV brand in the US year to date, just behind Tesla.
The F-150 Lightning and its nearly instant torque with ride and handling make it without a doubt the best truck Ford has ever made. If that feels like a bold statement, consider that amongst our judges, the F-150 Lightning won Truck of the Year by unanimous decision–the first EV truck to convince all judges across the board. The Ford F-150 Lightning is no less than a milestone achievement in the history of American mobility.
