American electric vehicle startup Lucid has just launched a new Referral Program for its US-based current and future customers.
The move is part of the electric automaker’s efforts to revive sales after the recent slow quarter. According to Electrek, Lucid’s production only reached 1,550 units in Q3 2023, down 29% from the prior quarter. It also remained short of the automaker’s 10,000 EV production target this year.
About Lucid’s referral program
According to the press release, the Lucid Referral Program is a “two-sided” reward scheme enabling current Air owners to share their referral links with potential buyers in exchange for various incentives.

For current Lucid Air owners
Lucid will assign each Air owner with different referral links they can pass on to potential new buyers from their friends, families, and coworkers.
Lucid Air owners who successfully referred the electric vehicle model to new customers will receive referral points. They can collect these points to redeem various prizes, including Lucid’s branded gear, accessories, or other limited-edition products.
Apart from that, they can also exchange their referral points for ” Lucid Experiences.” This unique offer enables Air owners to have a tour of Lucid’s Silicon Valley HQ and Casa Grande Advanced Manufacturing Plant (AMP-1) in Arizona.

For new buyers
New customers with referral links can take advantage of various discounts upon ordering the Lucid Air. Leasing customers can also access post-delivery rebates as long as they use the referral links.
Below are the discounts for Lucid Air’s variants, as indicated in the press release:
- $750 on Air Pure
- $1,000 on Air Touring
- $1,250 on Air Grand Touring
- Sapphire-branded duffel bag upcycled from the same leather featured in the Lucid Air Sapphire, for Sapphire deliveries.
It is worth noting that new owners can immediately join the referral program as soon as they receive their ordered models.
Launching referral programs has long been employed in various businesses, particularly in the automotive industry. In fact, EV giant Tesla even offered its electric cars as prizes for its referral program. Apart from that, it also encourages new customers with free Supercharging miles and discounts.
All that said, Lucid’s decision to employ a Referral Program will undoubtedly boost its EV sales before the year ends.
