American cabin motorcycle developer Lit Motors unveiled its latest innovation, the C-1 autonomous-balancing electric vehicle (AEV), to revolutionize urban mobility.
About the Lit Motors AEV
Lit Motors initially introduced the C-1 concept in 2011, combining the benefits of a motorcycle and a car.
“The Lit Motors AEV (Autonomous-balancing Electric Vehicle) combines the best of two and four-wheeled travel without sacrificing comfort, safety, speed, performance, or cost.
The comfort & safety of a car; the romance & efficiency of a motorcycle.”
Lit Motors indicated on its website
It opened the order books for the C-1 in 2015, priced at $24,000 at the time.
However, it closed the pre-orders and reimbursed customers after two years as it failed to present a production model. After a lengthy pause, Lit Motors recently reopened the order books for the C-1 AEV. The price increased from the original $24,000 to $32,000.
Customers can pre-order the C-1 for a reservation fee of only $250, which comes with an AEV Queue t-shirt and certificate.
Key attributes
The innovative C-1 AEV features a gyroscope technology that keeps the vehicle upright and balanced, even when stationary. The 2-seater AEV also boasts autonomous stabilization that eliminates the need for manual balancing or countersteering.
Moreover, it is suitable for highway driving with a top speed of more than 100 miles per hour. It has a 45-degree tilt and enables a driving range of 170 miles between charges from a 13kWh battery pack. It also supports a charge time between 4 and 8 hours, regardless of whether it is used with a 220V or 110V outlet. In addition, it accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in 5 seconds.
“Our patented tech empowers drivers with steering-wheel control to lean around turns up to a 45° angle, reduce commute time up to 30%, and save more than 4/5 the operational cost of an EV.”

Pricing and Production Start
As mentioned, Lit Motors is already accepting orders for its self-balancing motorcycle, which costs only $250. Its base price is now set at $32,000, a notable increase from the $24,000 announced in 2015.
It is expected to kick off production within the next 12 months, according to Motori Online.
