Chinese automaker Geely has just teased its upcoming sleek electric sedan for the Chinese market, which Cars News China uploaded. Notably, it plans to debut the new EV this year to compete with German and Japanese brands in the automotive luxury segment.
Teaser: Exterior details
In the teaser film, the exterior of the yet-to-be-named EV is concealed by darkness. Nevertheless, we are still able to discern its appearance fairly well.
Notably, its daytime running lights up front are bright LEDs. It also makes clear that the EV will have a notable lower bumper area. It also features a relatively long hood, a roofline that slopes, and tapered C-pillars that are reminiscent of those on the Porsche Taycan.
Moreover, the new EV seems to have lighted door handles. It also reveals that the EV will feature suicide doors at the back, given the rear door handles placement.
The Chinese publication noted that the new Geely EV would have a length of about 4,900 mm (192.2 inches). That considered, it is slightly smaller than the Zeekr 001 but bigger than the BYD Seal.
Components
Geely’s SEA architecture, which is already utilized by Zeekr, Smart, Jidu, Radar, Polestar, and Lotus brands, may serve as the foundation for the EV.
Undoubtedly, using an existing platform and possibly utilizing a battery pack and electric motors from other Geely brands will assist in cutting costs. It will also hasten the production and release of the vehicle.
Not only that, but the Chinese automaker has also announced plans to debut new series of EVs that would follow this electric sedan. Interestingly, Chinese media claim that Geometry will be the brand name for entry-level vehicles. Meanwhile, the mid-range cars will be marketed as Geely models. As for the flagship models, they will be sold under the Zeekr brand.
