Tesla’s CEO, Elon Musk stated that there are more problems to address than Global Warming. With this, his fans and critics agree that he is one of the world’s advocates and Tesla’s objective to help the world be maintained.
“Tesla is to protect life on Earth, SpaceX to extend life beyond,” posted Elon Musk on his Twitter account.
“This is because the overarching purpose of Tesla Motors (and the reason I am funding the company) is to help expedite the move from a mine-and-burn hydrocarbon economy towards a solar electric economy, which I believe to be the primary, but not exclusive, sustainable solution,” Musk wrote in August 2006 when he introduced, through a blog post, what he called “The Secret Tesla Motors Master Plan (just between you and me).” A sort of secret guide to transform transportation and to save the planet from dying from pollution.
According to the report, Tesla has stepped up with the conversion of automotive to electric vehicles, which lessens the production of CO2 that is mostly used as a mode of transport in the northern hemisphere.
In collaboration with Tesla and SolarCity, the EV manufacturer also creates solar panels.
Population Collapse ‘Is a Much Bigger Risk’
Back in 2021, A tech investor discontinued the purchase of Tesla cars with bitcoins, after he was told that a lot of electricity is required to make a valid transaction that is made with cryptocurrency.
However, the billionaire is convinced that there’s a lot to point out other than global warming. The increase in population is one to be considered for it affects countries in the Northern Hemisphere and China.
“Population collapse due to low birth rates is a much bigger risk to civilization than global warming,” Elon Musk Said. “Mark these words” he added.
In focusing on depopulating western countries that produce the majority of the world’s wealth, he desires to remind us that he still considers global warming a big problem and it appears to be a matter of priority. Basically, we have to reconsider the priorities and the population should be on top of the list.
“(And I do think global warming is a major risk),” Musk said.
Musk has brought up this issue several times. He was disturbed about population decline in Japan, Italy, South Korea, China, and Hong Kong and the declining birth rates in the US and elsewhere.
Several Warning Signs
Musk got alarmed after the data conflict on world population trends.
In data from Statistics Korea (Kostas), The total fertility rate in South Korea is at 0.81 in 2021, compared to 0.84 of the previous year. It is considered the lowest figure since the agency started back in 1970. Last year also marked the fourth year in a row that the number was below 1.
South Korea is the only country where the number of births per woman has remained below 1 among the 38 members of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). The total fertility rate of OECD countries was 1.59 on average back in 2020.
According to the United Nations, the global population is estimated to reach 8 billion on 15 November 2022. A peak of around 10.4 billion people will be reached during the 2080s and the world population will remain at that level until 2100.
However, the organization said that in 2021, the fertility rate was 2.3 children per woman, compared to 5 in 1950, and will be 2.1 in 2050. HSBC economists estimate that the decrease is more significant, in particular with the process of women in the labor market, the rise in real estate, and better access to care and contraceptive practices.
The trend of an aging global population indicates that the death rate will increase, warns HSBC. As a result of the study, it is more likely that the curves of the birth rate and of the death rate could intersect between the years 2080 and 2090.
With that, the population will be halved in 80 years, to 4 billion inhabitants in 2100.
All this comes at a time when unfamiliar heat waves affect the northern hemisphere and the adoption of a bill to fight climate change in the US.
