BYD’s luxury brand Denza seems to be accelerating its electrification efforts this year. It recently launched the Denze N7 SU on July 3, gaining an astounding 11,687 preorders on the first day of the presale.
The brand is now set to officially release its all-new SUV N8 on August 8 alongside the D9 model, CnEVPost reports citing Sales Division General Manager Zhao Changjiang’s statement on the social media platform Weibo.
Denza N8 details
The new Denza N8 has four variants, including a single-motor, a two-motor all-electric, a DM-i plug-in hybrid version, and a DM-p plug-in hybrid version, as per a regulatory catalog released on April 11.
The single-motor variant’s electric motor boasts a 230 KW maximum output. Meanwhile, the dual-moror variant is equipped with front and rear motors that generate a combined output of 430 kW. Specifically, the front offers a 230 kW peak power, and the rear motor delivers 200 kW.
The DM-i variant has a maximum power of 160 kW, while the DM-p variant with dual motors generates a combined output of 360 kW (160 kW at the front and 200 kW at the rear).
Remarkably, all four variants offer a 190 km/h top speed.
As for the dimensions, the Denza N8 is 4,949 mm long, 1,950 mm wide, and 1,725 mm tall. It has a 2,830 mm wheelbase, as per the regulatory filing.
General Manager Zhao claims that the new Denza N8 can perform excellently on both urban and off-road operations. He also alluded to bigger SUV models in the coming two years.
About the Denza brand
BYD and Damiler’s partnership in February 2011 founded a joint venture named Denza. Both companies held a 50% share at the JV at that time.
However, Daimler has undergone rebranding, which is now known as Mercedes-Benz. The Chinese company took over 90% of the share in Denza. Meanwhile, Mercedes’ stake dropped to 10%.
