Aptera Motors Corp. reportedly developed a solar-powered three-wheeled electric vehicle that can generate sufficient energy for everyday use, according to The Driven.
“It’ll operate like a normal electric vehicle. But all the while, you’ve got this imaginary extension cord that’s charging you up — 20, 30, 40 miles a day in some places.”
Steve Fambro, Aptera’s co-founder
The intriguing solar electric vehicle is set to be produced next year at a starting price of $25,900, as per the automaker’s website.
Features
Aptera’s newly developed electric vehicle boasts an aerodynamic shape and ultra-lightweight composites to increase its efficiency and performance.
Apart from that, its solar energy generating capability offers a maximum of 40 miles or about 60 km of driving each day.
“In a regular EV, it just wouldn’t be efficient enough. You know, you would cover the whole thing in cells and the car might go five miles, 10 miles, something like that.”
Steve Fambro, Aptera’s co-founder
Apart from sourcing energy from the Sun, it also utilizes a battery that can offer a maximum range of 1,000 miles when fully charged.
Space-wise, it offers 25 cubic feet of rear storage to carry your cargo and even your friends.
This innovative Aptera EV uses extremely efficient architecture and solar energy to help reduce the demand for fossil fuels, which causes harmful carbon emissions. Apart from that, it could significantly help lessen reliance on the grid.
